Weekly Update

The past week was short but action packed. In Language Arts we finished our Alphabet tree. It now stands proudly in the Kindergarten hallway. The kids had a blast making their own "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Tree" and have requested to design more letters for it. We continue to experiment with the alphabet centres throughout the day. While learning about Valentine's Day we brainstormed and wrote ideas of what friendship means to us on heart shaped cards.

In math, we continue to practice counting groups of objects and making patterns. The students are using objects, fingers, and pencil and paper to explore these concepts The kids are getting the hang of naming and explaining how different patterns are made such as a 1, 2 or a 1,2,3 patterns.

On Wednesday morning we celebrated Valentine's Day and in the afternoon we had a very special guest, the superintendent of the CBE. Children had some time to talk to Mr. Chris and show some of their alphabet centre work. This was an awesome way to end our week before Teachers Convention and the long weekend.
Please remember there is no school on Monday. Enjoy Family Day! See you on Tuesday.
