Weekly Update

Dear Families,

Please notte that our whole school will be having class photos on Tuesday. There will be no individual photos taken at this time.
There will be no school on Friday January 29 as this is a non-instructional or PD day.

Kindergarten has been working hard on a new art project. We hope to have it up on display by the time we get to the end of our alphabet unit. We have been inspired by reading the book "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" to make our own Maple/Alphabet Tree. Here is a link to the song version of the book. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Song. We will be posting more updates about our project as we make progress.

In language Arts we have reviewing some of the letters we learned so far and made great progress in exploring the Alphabet Centers in the morning.
In math we continue to work with patterns and counting.

Weekly Update

It has been a chilly return to school after the Winter Break! Please remember to dress your child for the weather. As the weather warms up we will start going outside for recess. Children need mittens or gloves, warm clothing and winter boots in order to feel comfortable outside. Please remember to keep a change of clothing in your children's backpacks in case they get wet while paying outside.

This week we have continued to explore the alphabet and have added the letters Q and A to our  Alphabet Books. Ask your child if they remember the sounds these letters make. Play a game to see how many words starting with these sounds can be found.

In math we have been working on counting and identifying different patters. Children have been focusing on these concepts every day during calendar time.

This week have also started participating in Alphabet Centers. During this  time children work on identifying letters and sounds and practicing a variety of reading and writing skills. Ask your child about their favorite Alphabet centre.
