School Update

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Based on the changing provincial and local response to COVID-19, the CBE has given us direction to postpone our Learning Conversations (Student-Parent-Teacher conferences) scheduled for March 19th, 2020. In addition, ALL after school programs including Philkids, Reading & Running, YMCA, Teen Mentors and Mosiac club will be cancelled until further notice. All CBE schools have been given direction to postpone or cancel events that include populations from other schools and/or parents or other community members, such as Parent-Teacher Interviews, celebrations of learning, drama/musical performances, dances, athletic competitions, etc. This decision is effective from Mar. 12 until the end of March break. This decision will be revisited during March break to determine whether events should be rescheduled.
Events outside of school hours that include the regular student and staff population of the school (school clubs, practices, etc) and scheduled field trips may continue at this time.

I know this may be disappointing news. Students and staff have spent a significant amount of time preparing for this event, but the health of our community is our priority.

For the most up to date information about the CBE’s approach to COVID-19 and the actions we are taking, please visit our website. Answers to frequently asked questions will continue to be posted as information becomes available.
Thank you,

Kenny Yeung

Weekly Update

Over the past week we have been busy exploring more letters and sounds and learning about sentences. We found that at the end of each sentence there is a period and that the spaces between words are important. We are also practicing writing words in order (from left to right and top to bottom) in order to make  sure our sentences make sense. So far we have been writing "I love..." and "I see..."  sentences.

I math we have been working really hard on creating our own patterns. So far we have been using objects, toys, stickers, pencil and paper,  as well as sounds in order to create a variety of color, sound, size, shape, patterns. You can easily play a pattern game with your child by clapping different rhythms  with your hands and asking your child to identify and copy them, you can both take turns at this game. Here is a link to a song we really, really like this year in Kindergarten. Banana Banana Meatball

Weekly Update

Hello Families,
Over the past week we have been concentrating on learning about more letters and sounds and experimenting with sentences. We are learning that sentences are made of words that are separated by spaces, and that it is important to write the words in order and on a line.

In math we continue to experiment with patterns we have been making sound size type or color patterns and are getting quite proficient at naming them. AB, AABB, ABC and so on.
